Neuro-Optometric Assessment
Neuro-Optometric Assessment is a specialized evaluation that focuses on vision problems resulting from neurological trauma or dysfunction, such as brain injuries or concussions. Conducted by a neuro-optometrist, the assessment examines how the brain and eyes work together.

It includes testing for eye tracking, coordination, visual field deficits, balance, spatial awareness, and visual processing. Patients may also be evaluated for post-trauma vision syndrome or binocular vision disorders. The assessment results help design vision therapy or rehabilitation plans tailored to neurological recovery.
When is a Neuro-Optometric Assessment needed?
This assessment is commonly recommended for individuals who:
-
Have suffered a concussion or traumatic brain injury (TBI),
-
Experience dizziness, headaches, or difficulty focusing after an accident,
-
Report balance issues, motion sensitivity, or light sensitivity,
-
Have reading challenges, eye strain, or blurred vision post-injury,
-
Require vision therapy to support cognitive and motor recovery.
