Nerve Conduction Study
A Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) is a non-invasive diagnostic test used to measure how quickly and effectively electrical signals move through peripheral nerves. Conducted by a specialist, this test involves placing small electrodes on the skin and applying gentle electrical stimulation to specific nerves.

The NCS is often performed in conjunction with an EMG to assess nerve damage, compression, or dysfunction.
When is a Nerve Conduction Study needed?
This assessment is commonly recommended for individuals who:
-
Experience numbness, tingling, burning, or weakness,
-
Have symptoms of nerve compression (e.g., carpal tunnel, sciatica),
-
Are recovering from trauma involving the spine or limbs,
-
Show signs of peripheral neuropathy or radiculopathy,
-
Need diagnostic confirmation for any purposes.
